In fact, many of the most common questions we field are about why we recommend WordPress so wholeheartedly.

With over 20% of the internet's websites on WordPress, it's clearly a very popular and powerful Content Management System. Why use WordPress? Let's talk.

1. Customization

There's nothing like WordPress. Since it is free and open-source, absolutely anyone can use it to run their blog or website. Because it is so incredibly popular and easy-to-use, developers have created countless plugins to support and enhance any given page.

Why use WordPress? (Photo credit: Adriano Gasparri)

I love it when my friends ask me for advice on adding this or that feature to their blog. "How do I...provide the option for readers to choose a language?" My answer is always: "There's a plugin for that!" Simply perform a search (usually on a search engine since plugins don't always have straightforward titles), and then install and activate the program.

If you can imagine a specific feature or tool, it probably already exists.

2. Easy Set-up

Since WordPress is so mainstream, it's easy to set it up on any hosting program. My favorite way to install it onto a new domain is through cPanel's Fantastico De Luxe, but there are other ways. It takes about 10 seconds, and will open up to your brand new website.

Although other programs are easy to install on your domain, they aren't always as user-friendly. It's like jumping into a standard car without understanding gears and sticks and shifts. With WordPress, you can get it and go because it's in a far more understanding format.

3. Seamless Intergrations

Again, WordPress's popularity makes it exceptionally to use. In this case, you can connect to a wide variety of social media platforms and many other websites or programs because developers know how WordPress thinks and acts. Many of these integrations are free or cheap, and work to connect your WordPress life with the rest of your online identities.

4. Powerful Forums

WordPress was founded in 2003. That's equivalent to forever in internet years. In that time, developers and designers have been able to troubleshoot almost every question or problem you might possibly have, even the small, specific ones. The hardest part of fixing issues is learning how to speak the language - not tracking down the guy with the answer.

5. Free and Professional

Despite WordPress's popularity, many people believe that it's impossible to make a professional-looking website with a free program. Well, the endless customizations available to you on WordPress means there's no such thing as impossible.

You can take a free, basic theme, add whatever modifications and plugins you would like, and transform a free, standard product into something unique. Plus, becoming proficient in how WordPress works will make it even easier to start and run your own website in the future.

Which system do you use?
