  • Getting Website Traffic

If you've made it to this page you've made a great decision. You can have the latest greatest product or the most useful information but if you don't get more website traffic you aren't going to sell anything.

As you read through this page you'll find that I've given a variety of options along with a brief explanation but most importantly you'll find a link to an in depth page on each topic. On each page you'll find that I've tried to use real work experiences that I've had with getting more website traffic and I'll explain what worked and what hasn't worked.

Unique Website Content

I can't stress enough the need for unique website content. If you're looking for search engine traffic you'll need to minimize images and write descriptive content for your website.

Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC)

Pay per click advertising is the method of paying for links on a website or search engine that links directly to your website. In return you pay for each click to your website. If you're in a market that's extremely competitive this can be an expensive option but it's a great way to drive traffic to your website right away.

Getting Listed On Search Engines

Getting listed on search engines is the ideal way to drive traffic to your website for two reasons. One, the traffic is free and second, the traffic is targeted meaning that the person specifically searched for a product that you offer so the chance of conversion to a sale is much better.

Reciprocal Link Exchanges

Reciprocal link exchanges is another method of driving more website traffic. You place a link on your website to another website in exchange for a link back to your website. This is great for achieving great search engine rankings along with possible traffic from other websites.

Email Newsletters

Email newsletters are a great way to stay in contact with your customers to announce new products or just to pass along valuable information. It's important to make sure that your email list has opted-in, meaning that they agreed to receive your newsletter, or you could run into problems with being identified as a spammer.

Submit A Press Release

A press release is an announcement that is distributed to various news sources and other outlets to let the general public know about a new product, service, upgrade or even a partnership with another company.

Online Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is a unique method of advertising. A few examples that you may have run into is the 'email a friend' link on a website or even a link on each email that you send out. Viral marketing is valuable because it is often sent from a source that you trust.

Online Website Advertising

Online website advertising is the method of purchasing advertising on a website. Generally you'd want to focus on websites that offer related or complementary products. Website advertising is generally purchased on a month to month basis but you'll often find specials when you purchase for a year or more upfront.

Advertising Methods To Avoid

I've mentioned a few of the top ways to drive traffic to your website but I wanted to at least take the time to mention the types of advertising methods that you'll probably want to avoid. I feel that I can write on this because over the years I've personally run into quite a few methods that I wish I hadn't used.
