  • The Brand New Pinterest Business Account: What You Need to Know

Hopefully, you heard last week about Pinterest's big announcement. If not, here you go! They have an entirely brand new version of the traditional Pinterest account for businesses!

With the enormous crowding of Pinterest as businesses take up the market, this is a much needed change. Sure, the program still worked, but there really needed to be a designation for individuals and companies.

Naturally, this did require quite a few behind-the-scenes changes. So how will this affect you? Let's discuss.

Will I need to create a new Pinterest business account?

This is probably the most important question you could ask about such a change. Imagine if you had to start from scratch! That'd be a complete nightmare.

Instead, Pinterest created a method to switch your account method from individual to business. This should be pretty seamless, which will save you time and energy while getting the best of these great new changes.

What should I do first?

After you switch over your traditional, individual account, you need to verify your website. This will earn you a nice red check by your name, which adds extra authority and weight to all of your posts. Since the internet is all about authority, this is perfect! Even small businesses (as long as they have top-level domains) are able to verify their websites, so go ahead and take care of this one right away.

Are there any special features?

Well, of course! The visually-focused social media program was bound to add at least a few extra features for its users. There are a handful of new visual tools available for your use, including the Pin It and Follow buttons and Profile and Board widgets. They've also opened up access to case studies from successful accounts, which can help even the newest pinner get a handle on the system.

Pinterest really wants to help businesses make a successful transition to the new model, and that is demonstrated through the slew of new features and studies they offer. Check out the "What Works" page to learn about how to implement these changes the most successfully for your business.

Do I really need to be on Pinterest, anyway?

Although Pinterest is not necessarily the best idea for all businesses, it can really be the ace in your hand for visually-oriented businesses! It's been compared to a Twitter, but with pictures instead of words. It's incredibly addicting, and draws in over 25 million hits every month.

For those with a product or lifestyle to sell, Pinterest can be an absolutely perfect match. With these new Pinterest business accounts, you can take these abilities even further to create entire social communities surrounding a special idea, color scheme, season, or issue.
