  • Types Of Websites

There are a lot of aspects to making a website but it doesn't have to be difficult and it definitely doesn't have to be expensive. The type of site that you'd like to build will really dictate a lot about what you'll need and the experience that you'll need. Below I've listed some of the basic types of websites that may interest you. I've also included a link to a more in depth information that should clear up basic questions. Please keep in mind that all of the options below will still require you to register a domain name and choose a web hosting provider.

Make Money Online

This is probably the most popular reason that someone would start a website. This type of website is made up of quite a few options. You could have a product to sell, a service to sell or maybe you would like to start a website regarding a hobby that you have. You can make money on a hobby site by selling advertising once you have regular traffic to your website. You'll find detailed information on our page regarding how to make money online.

A Family Website

Maybe you'd like to simply share photos or make a blog to keep family and friends informed about what's been going on in your life. This is probably going to be your easiest option for setting up a website as it's not going to require any sort of programming language or HTML knowledge. Setting up a family website will simply require you to setup an account that is dedicated to sharing photos and then you simply upload your files.

Informational Website

Another very popular reason to make a website is simply for informational purposes. Some common uses for this type of website would be a dentists office that wants to give some information regarding the types of procedures they do, office hours, & contact information.

An informational website is ideal for categories such as insurance agents, church websites, real estate agents, etc. A great option for an information site would be SiteToad.com's Website Tonight. After signing up you simply choose between 100's of templates and add your photos & text. There is no advanced HTML to learn and there is no software to install. Visit SiteToad.com to learn more.

Church Website Building

A great way to get exposure for your church is to build a church website that offers details about the meeting times, community involvement, past sermons, etc. Building a church website can also offer interactive features that allow your members to contribute to the website as well.

Real Estate Web Site Design

Real estate web site design is a growing area for making a website. The realtor market is extremely competitive and real estate agents need to offer anything that they can to give them a leg-up on the competition. You can list your current listings as well as connect your website to your local MLS.

Dental Website Design

This is a market that seems to be fairly untouched so starting a dental website is a great way to offer your hours, services as well as having a simple blog on good dental practices. I was searching for a local dentist recently and not one single dentist in my area showed up with a website. Even if you're not a dentist, this could be a really strong market to offer website design.

Just For Fun Website

The final reason that I'll discuss is making a website just for fun. This could be simply to learn the trade of website building or to simply start a website that's related to a hobby that you enjoy.

A Final Word On Website Basics

As you can see there are quite a few reasons for making a website. Like I'd mentioned, the type of website that you intend on building will really dictate the experience level that will be required. I've put together this website as an informational site to help people make their own website. I encourage you to visit as much of the site as possible and coming back in the future by bookmarking our website.

Webmaster Forum

I invite you to visit our webmaster forum, it's a great place to discuss websites and ask questions to fellow webmasters regarding topics that you may still have questions on.
